Ten things to do while in Saint Pierre et Miquelon

Celebrate Bastille Day

Head to Place Generale de Gaulle for a full day of activities on July the 14th and commemorate the storming of the Bastille in 1789. See a historic restoration—join in on the fun and play some games. Finish the day by watching fireworks and tapping your toes at the outdoor dance.

Run a 25 km race

Join as many as 400 runners who flock to Miquelon each June. It is a race of time with a limit of four hours, and can be completed by either running or walking.

This “Miquelon Marathon” is also an opportunity for friends to cheer each other along the way, to enjoy a delicious barbecue held later on in the evening, and to meet for a weekend of socializing, physical activity, and friendship.

Listen to the music of Déferlantes Atlantiques

Visit in July and join in the fun of this ten-day music festival that takes place each year. Musicians flock from many different provinces to join local musicians playing in bars, outdoor tents, and the restaurants of Saint-Pierre et Miquelon.

See the blessing of the fleet

Take in a charming traditional festival dedicated to sailors and fishers. On this day in June, all the boats in Saint-Pierre et Miquelon are decorated with colourful flags. The festival begins with mass accompanied by seamen hymns in a church decorated by flags and model boats.

Upon leaving the church, a procession of sailors carrying the model boats on their shoulders is followed out by the bishop. A wreath is laid on the seamans' memorial, dedicated to all the fishers who lost their lives at sea.
