Halifax, Nova Scotia celebrated by National Awards for Tourism Excellence with seven nominations

Halifax, NS – Halifax’s tourism industry had much to celebrate when the National Awards for Tourism Excellence, presented by the Toronto Star, were announced this week. With seven nominations, in categories including Event of the Year and Business of the Year - Multiple Unit, Halifax’s famous hospitality is being recognized on a national level.
Halifax’s nominees include RCR Hospitality (Business of the Year – Multiple Unit), Halifax International Airport Authority (Corporate Partner of the Year), Waterfront Development Corporation (Corporate Partner of the Year), Grand Chief Membertou 400 (Event of the Year), Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon (Event of the Year), Halifax Sociable! – Destination Halifax (Online Marketing Campaign of the Year) and The Prince George Hotel (Award for Excellence in Human Resources Development). Nova Scotia’s nominees also include Joggins Fossil Institute Association (Sustainable Tourism Award) and Celtic Colours International Festival (National Cultural Tourism Award).

The National Tourism Awards for Excellence are presented annually by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC). The award winners will be announced on November 2, 2010 at Canada’s Tourism Summit in Gatineau, Quebec.
